Ekalavya Foundation’s work is carried out in India, and gifts from abroad reach it through an FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act) account with the State Bank of India in New Delhi. Indian law requires us to record each donor’s name, contact details and full postal address before a foreign contribution can be transferred into that account — without them we simply cannot send your gift on to the children it is meant for.
Your details are sent to us over an encrypted connection and held on our secure servers. They are used for your 501(c)(3) receipt and shared with no one beyond the FCRA-regulated bank that the law requires. Thank you for bearing with the paperwork.

A supplementary education programme for rural and tribal children. It runs daily two-hour evening tuition centres in villages, helping government primary-school students strengthen Mathematics, Telugu and English through activity-based, peer-learning methods.
Many rural government schools face teacher shortages and weak oversight. Vidya Vikasam fills that gap with concept-based, child-friendly coaching so children don't fall behind on the fundamentals that shape their future.
An educated person from the same village — a woman or a man — who has completed Intermediate (Class 12) or higher. We appoint only local residents of the village, chosen through a baseline test and interview, then trained in child-friendly and peer-learning methods — with a one-day refresher training every month.
To the real running costs of a centre — the local tutor's honorarium, monthly tutor training, learning materials, student assessments and special programmes. Each centre is costed at ₹60,000 + ₹9,000 overhead = ₹69,000 (about $725) per year.
Either. You can sponsor one or more centres outright for a full year ($725 each). You can co-sponsor — up to 5 donors share a centre, so one share is $145, and you may take a share in up to 4 centres. Or you can simply enter any amount and we will spread it across up to 4 centres that need it most, finishing part-funded centres first; any surplus goes to the General Fund.
Built-in tracking: a baseline test on joining, students grouped by learning level, and progress assessments every two months — so your support ties to measurable learning gains. You can follow your centre through the Donor Dashboard.
Your gift covers one year of a centre's running expenses — ₹69,000 (about $725). It is a yearly commitment, not a permanent one: at the end of the year the centre is reviewed and funded afresh, so you are free to renew, support a different centre, or step away. Over time we work to make each centre self-sustaining by training local tutors, involving parents, and handing the centre over to the Village Education Committee.
Yes. Employing an educated young person from the village creates rural employment, gives them leadership experience and an income, and gives children a relatable role model from their own community — so one donation supports both the students and the tutor's growth.
